Zimbabwe Project

Medical Rescue International is pleased to announce the development of a project to provide a first class advanced frontline ambulance service for Zimbabwe.

Initially this service will be based in Harare and act as a support to our air operations there, as well as providing for the immediate care of emergency patients. Local registration is currently being obtained through the relevant authorities and our personnel are already registered to provide medical care there.

Currently we have one advanced rapid response car and two ambulances being shipped to Zimbabwe and will, hopefully, arrive late in May.

The vehicles consist of a BMW 525i Estate to provide a rapid deployment of advanced personnel to accident and emergency scenes. The ambulances are Mercedes Sprinters with Laser body configurations—ideal for local conditions. The vehicles are equipped with the following:

· Defibrillator

· Multi-parameter Patient monitor

· SpO2 monitor

· ECG

· Resuscitation Case

· Oxygen

· Entonox

· Spine Board

· Scoop Stretcher

· Splints

· Extrication Collars

· Extrication Device

· Traction Splints

· Trauma Bag

· Obstetrics Kit

· Burns Kit

· Medical Anti Shock Trousers (MAST)

· Suction Unit

A sample of some of the equipment to be carried—although this does depict the proper equipment list, much of what can be seen here is not ordinarily available in Zimbabwe, particularly not in ambulances or air ambulances.
